I am the sea and
the sea is in me
i am vast and deep
i'll sweep you off your feet
be careful if you stir me
i know no defeat
i'll drag you with me

My local rescue has a program called Book Buddies where kids read to sheltered cats to keep them from being lonely.

That’s beautiful.

If those hills were alive, they ain’t now…

there should be a musical where the main character kills everyone while dancing and singing

I love everything about this photoset

The lack of condescension in cultural sharing

The nonsexualization

The contextual foreignness of firm breasts in a society that doesn’t use bras

This is funny and charming

My grandfather once went to visit a Masai tribe and he was so excited to show my mother, uncle and grandmother all about how they live. My grandmother averted her eyes and called them “African sluts”. It’s all about how one’s raised.

When James and I were in South Africa, we visited the Zulu tribe. James had stayed them in the past so we were comfortable and safe. But during one of the celebrations in our visit with the tribe, they wanted me to wear a beaded top they had made that really looked like an elongated necklace. I was so hesitant because of my surgery scars, and when James explained that, a few of the women gave me hugs. They told James that people would love me there and that I shouldn’t be sad. I was almost in tears as they put it on me and gave me a headpiece.

I remember you telling me of this and that you had a surrounding group of women to look over you. I was almost in tears

They’re like “so perky”

The head-turning Game of Thrones actress Gwendoline Christie is a towering 6ft 3in tall and admits she often felt she couldn’t relate to women on the big screen because of her Amazonian frame, but is now relishing the opportunity to play a tough, fierce warrior in the medieval fantasy drama.

She said: “It’s really vitally important to me the way women are portrayed. As someone who has always felt at times pretty genderless because of my size, it interests me to challenge ideas of prejudice and femininity, and what it is to be a woman.”

The towering actress reveals that she had numerous setbacks in her career before landing a prized role as Brienne of Tarth in the hit show, adding: “I found it so frustrating, particularly at the beginning, because I would be told, ‘Sorry love, you’re too tall.’ At one stage I was like, ‘I’ll give this another six months and if this persists, ‘I’ll become a nun.’ “

For her role as warrior Brienne, Gwendoline trained how to fight with swords and ride horses and says it’s “empowering” to know she can “break a man’s nose with my elbow.”

"I do all my own stunts and come away with bruises and scratches. After one scene I was absolutely covered in bruises all down one leg and up one arm. But it’s worth it. It’s quite fun. I enjoy knocking around with the boys."

I cannot get enough of this woman. She deserves all the awards.

"Think about how helpful it is for a rapist if we consider rape an unseemly topic, one that is too frightening, one that is too complex, one that is too murky, too difficult to prosecute, or simply not worth it. What kind of society do we end up with? We end up with a society where schools and institutions settle cases of sexual violence with as little transparency, as little accountability and as little exposure as possible. A society where it is so hard for the anti-violence movement to come together because in order to compete for limited funding, organizations must stand out, which means by definition they must stand alone. We end up with a society where although, thank God, Congress recently reauthorized the Violence Against Women Act, 22 senators and 138 congressmen voted against it. It’s unconscionable. - Mariska Hargitay

Mariska for president. She is my queen. She doesn’t just act in a show that comments on contemporary social issues and challenges rape culture; she literally cares about the content Dick Wolf writes and I cannot even with the entire cast speaking out against rape and abuse it makes me want to cry it’s just so wonderful wow

The most beautiful cat cafe I have been to. It’s called Temari no Ouchi (Temari’s house) in Tokyo, Japan. The soft music and ambience feels like you are in a Studio Ghibli film. Had to take the Japan Railway there, but was totally worth the extra trip, & unlike the central Tokyo cat cafes, this one has no time limit, so feels totally relaxed. Several girls were even sleeping there amongst the cats.

Harvey used to be a fighting dog. His ears torn from battles he was forced into. He flinches when you talk too loud around him. He gets so excited when you prepare his food, as in disbelief that he’s actually going to eat this many days in a row and when you put the food down he kisses you in gratitude. He’s afraid of thunder, soda cans, the TV and when baby Nick Fury meows when he’s hungry. When we first picked up Harvey from the pound half of his face was missing and he was severely underweight. Now he’s a kitten baby sitter. FIGHT BSL IN YOUR COUNTY.
